Avril Lavigne Returns To Music After Spending 5 Years Fighting Life-Threatening Illness

After more than 5 years of fighting life-threatening illnesses, Avril Lavigne returned with a new album titled ‘Head Above Water‘ on February 15. The album has the same name of the song that the Canadian vocalist debuted in September 2018.

Head Above Water‘ is a female singer’s narrative about the time she struggled to cope with illness. The song once revived Avril Lavigne’s music career when it  suddenly peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Song chart.

Talking about the song, she revealed to Billboard magazine:”I had accepted death and could feel my body shutting down.I felt like I was drowning. Like I was going underwater, and I just needed to come up for air.Like I was in a river being pulled in a current,“. Eventually Avril was able to get the treatment she needed and fight to return to full health.

The female singer has a combination with the infamous rapper Nicky Minaj in the song ‘Dumb Blonde‘ of this new album. Lavigne revealed that she hopes to inspire a lot of people through her music.

Music healed me,” Lavigne added, “There was a time when I thought I wouldn’t be able to work or even make music again. But then I started to write songs in my bedroom“.

In 2014, Avril Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease and was so ill at one point, she feared death. Lyme disease is an infection caused by bacteria, transmitted to humans through the bite of the parasitic tick Ixodes. This illness has made her stuck in a hospital bed for several years with many health problems such as joint pain, fatigue, heart palpitations, facial paralysis and even Alzheimer.

Oscar 2020: Elton John Wins His Second Academy Award For ‘Rocketman’ Best Original Song.

As expected, Sir Elton John along with his long time musical collaborator and lyricist Bernie Taupin took home the Oscar trophy for “Best Original Song” for ‘(I’m Gonna) Love me Again‘ from the biopic ‘Rocketman’ award at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony. 

The two stars express their deep thanks to all the people involved with ‘Rocketman’ and its star, Taron Egerton. Elton was also deeply moved when he mentioned his twin sons Zachary and Elijah on stage and proudly exclaimed that he loved them. In his acceptance speech, the 72-year-old singer called Bernie “the constant thing in my life“. He also praised Rocketman star Taron Egerton, whose performance was sadly snubbed by the Oscars.

This is the second Oscar statue the Sir Elton John has ever won. Twenty years ago, he and Tim Rice won the first Oscar trophy for ‘Can you feel the love tonight’ from 1994’s The Lion King, and this is the first time he and Taurin have shared an Academy Award. Before that, the duo already took home a Golden Globe for the Rocketman song.

Meanwhile, South Korean film Parasite was the surprise winner of Best Picture, while Joaquin Phoenix was named Best Actor for Joker and Renee Zellweger won Best Actress for Judy.
